    Our Philosophy...

We nurture our students to appreciate and feel music with passion and enjoyment.

We make sure that our students find music learning fun, easy and achievable.

We train each student to develop skills in sight-reading and memorizing music.

We prepare our students to excel in AMEB exams as a way of gauging and encouraging progress.

We provide opportunities for our students to always learn and perform on grand pianos.

We encourage our students to strengthen the relationship between parent-child-teacher to develop confidence and progress in character.

We give each student ample opportunities to gain exposure as a performer and give parents assurance of their child's progress.

We encourage students to expand their repertoire and improve sightreading skills by providing piano library book loan.

We encourage students to express their creativity through story-telling, drawing, composing and improvising.

We give our students the best and most comfortable environment as our studio is air-conditioned and air-purified.

    Laura's Biography

Laura has been a piano teacher and a Blue Card holder in Brisbane since 2008. She is also an experienced accompanist for AMEB instrumental exams, Queensland Conservatorium and The School of Music at The University of Queensland. Prior to that, she worked as the Head of Music Pedagogy for 7 years at International Music House (IMH); and as the pianist and English Choir conductor at Trinity Methodist Church in Kuching, Malaysia. During her study at USQ, Laura was given the opportunity to work as the repetiteur for USQ Opera Studio under the direction of Arthur Johnson. This year in 2023, Laura is honoured to be appointed as the President of Accompanists' Guild of Qld (AGQ).

Laura's qualifications include Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy (University of Southern Queensland, Australia) and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with Honours and Distinction (University of Iowa, U.S.A.). In addition to teaching and accompanying professionally, Laura also accompanies instrumentalists as a chamber performer. In the past, she has collaborated with Sophie Manoharan (flutist), Luke Carbon (clarinetist) and other musicians in public recitals.

In 2016, Laura was appointed the accompanist for Flute Feast at Chateau Yering, Melbourne and worked with Elisabeth Parry and Paul Edmund-Davies. She also collaborated with them in a chamber music concert during the Flute Feast performing trio pieces by Mendelssohn, Bach, Kohler and Doppler. (You can find a photo of Laura with Elisabeth and Paul in the photo gallery section which was taken after their trio concert.)

Laura has also accompanied Chantefique French Choir for many years until the end of 2020 due to her health and the Covid pandemic. She is very much loved and appreciated by everyone in the choir, especially by the choir director, Narelle Todman. Her piano accompaniment has helped to enhance the quality of each choir practice and performance throughout the span of almost a decade.

Do you know that Laura is also a gifted composer? She composes and performs her own piano music for special events especially weddings in her family. On June 2nd 2019, Laura won the First Prize in QMTA Gold Coast Composers’ Competition performing her composition entitled Laura’s Wedding Suite. It consists of three short pieces which were originally composed for weddings in her family: 1. The Joy Within (2010), 2. The Joyful Love (2015), and 3. The Gift of Love (2012). Besides the winner certificate and the trophy, Laura also won Jenny Wilkinson Piano/ Instrumental Award plus an opportunity to publish her composition with Wirripang!

Since 2014, Laura has started giving free open-book piano recitals to entertain her enthusiastic audience with delightful classical and inspirational piano solo music. Her audience would usually have a chance to enjoy her latest compositions in these recitals!

Laura's 8 short pieces for piano solo are now on sale! They are suitable for intermediate to advanced levels students who enjoy expressive and sentimental music. All of these compositions are dedicated to people who are dear to Laura's heart. Most of them are wedding pieces for family members.
